Marvel's satan...?
Mephisto is believed to be marvel's version of satan in widespread media. And although he does rule over hell and goes by using the term 'devil', he actually is not truly the devil. In fact, there is no definite satan in marvel. And while Mephisto does rule hell, there are actually many hells in Marvel[see Hell], each usually with their own "hell lord"s. Mephisto might just be the weakest among the cosmological entities listed in this website.
However, weakest among the bunch does not mean he is actually weak, and he still holds some type of relevence in the cosmology.
Mephisto is the idea of evil given form and his true form is conceptual. His regular appearance is merely his essence given representation. He can never truly be killed or destroyed. As long as there is the concept of evil, he will always come back.
Mephisto and his Hell are one and the same. He is the dimension. The entirety of hell is what he chooses it to be. His realm, which means his very essence too, is tangential to the universe but outside it. He can grow to become an entire dimension. He can watch the entirety of the universe from hell.
Can erase one singular moment from existence without affecting causality.
Goes toe to toe with Galactus in his own realm.
Him merely fighting with Satannish (another hell lord) was destroying 3 realms.
Later, one shots Satannish. Then makes him his bitch.
He has been fighting all of the Hell Lords for centuries over the ownership of all of hell.Knocks out the hell lords for a considerable amount of time to prep for hunting Tier down.
Blindsides Hela and makes her his bitch.
Momentarily keeps Tier locked up, someone who could kill all the Hell Lords beside Mephisto combined.
Casually binds Surfer, drains his power, his will, makes him speechless and unable to move. Says he could have the surfer destroyed if he so wished but only wants the surfer's soul.
Proceeds to then reduce Silver surfer to a random thought and absorbs him to his brain.
Once, Mephisto was randomly thinking about the Silver Surfer, and gets angry at him. His literal hatred transcends space and time from hell to earth and fucks Surfer up. From mephisto's own narration, he would have killed Surfer if he wasn't more cautious. (Surfer also claims even the THOUGHT of this attack is more than his mind can bear)
Traps Loki, who is actually Thor inside Loki's body, in ice that he can't break out of.
He "made" a version of Doctor Doom's mother that wasn't even real, but Doom couldn't tell it apart.
This thing was also able to match Doom's magic outbursts quite easily.
Casually unleashes enough power that it causes shockwaves across dimensions from Earth to Hell.
Can break out of the narrative flow and address the readers. But simply chooses to go back and let the narrative flow out even when he knows what's going to happen to him in the story.
Easily apprehends sorcerer supreme Agamotto.
Earth 616 Mephisto slaughters all his alternate universe counterparts and grows stronger than all of them by the end. (One alternate universe Mephisto was powerful enough to create thousands of separate timelines and created The World Ash, where each circle strand of the wood of this tree was a separate timeline. This tree could hold all the timelines of all the realities of the multiverse and grew with it. He also created an archetypal norse pantheon in his universe)
